Course Description

The Facilitator Development Program is designed to build a solid foundation of knowledge and skills for those who deliver training or presentations to adults. The Facilitator Skills Development training considers the principles of adult learning to create and deliver an effect training plan to meet an organization's needs.

This interactive training course will assist you in examining various adult learning theories and how to integrate these into your facilitation. In addition to building your skills, knowledge and attitude, this course will provide you with the opportunity to put into practice what you have learned.

What you will learn

In this course, you will learn and practice the following skills:

• Explain the purpose and function of a training needs assessment.
• Describe how different personality types and learning styles affect learning.

• Outline the steps required in developing a training program.
• Discover how to structure training sessions.
• Recognize and implement methods for customizing training and session plans.
• Select the best materials and methods for training activities.
• Breakdown the importance of evaluations in determining learner and training program success.

• Discover the importance of managing the learning environment as a part of the learning process.
• Analyze various delivery techniques and select the best options for their given audience.
• Create and deliver effective workplace training
• Develop and deliver training that meets skill or performance gaps for improvement.

Important information

Facilitator Skills Development consists of 14 hours in a classroom setting over 2 days. It can also be delivered virtually based on a custom schedule.

During the course, you will develop a training plan and deliver a 30-minute training session for evaluation.

An evaluation of your first training session following the course is required in order to complete your certification. This step will be conducted by a trained evaluator with Tourism Saskatchewan and must be arranged by the participant.

This course is intended for in-house trainers, staff presenters, workshop or webinar presenters, and others responsible for leading instruction or professional development.
