Tourism Saskatchewan Launches Year Two of the Tourism Work Ready Program
Wednesday, January 28 2026
Partnering with the Ministry of Immigration and Career Training and various agencies, the Work Ready Program provides participants with Emerit Work-Ready Credentials. Emerit is Canada’s tourism training and certification program. These programs and certifications are based on National Occupational Standards and are validated by thousands of tourism professionals working across Canada.
The Work Ready Program consists of two training components. First, participants complete the Workplace Essentials course. This course consists of nineteen modules covering Canadian workplace culture, communication skills, professionalism and customer service. Second, participants select one of four occupation-specific training courses in either Front Desk Agent, Housekeeping Room Attendant, Line Cook or Food & Beverage Service.
The 2024–25 pilot program wrapped up in August of 2025 with 96 individuals obtaining the certifications to fulfill the outcomes of the program.
The first group of the 2025-26 program completed training on December 15, 2025, with seven Front Desk Attendants ready for employment. Other groups have started training in the four occupational courses with over 75 participants expected to be trained for hospitality and tourism jobs by fall of 2026.
