About the Workplace Essentials 

The Emerit Workplace Essentials course focuses on practical, transferable skills that employers consistently look for when hiring entry-level and part‑time employees. Students will build a strong foundation in areas such as:

• Workplace expectations and professionalism
• Communication and teamwork
• Time management and reliability
• Problem-solving and adaptability
• Personal responsibility for health and safety at work

The course is delivered fully online and is available at no cost to students who are nominated by their teacher. 

Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate of completion that can be added to their resume or job applications.

How Teachers Can Participate

How Teachers Can Participate

Teachers throughout Saskatchewan are invited to nominate students who would benefit from this training. To participate, teachers simply provide Tourism Saskatchewan with the student’s:

• First and Last Name
• Email address

Tourism Saskatchewan will handle registration directly with the student at no cost to the school or student.

You will be notified if your students are selected for the training. 

Why Teacher Support Matters 

While students are often enthusiastic when they first register for online learning, experience shows that engagement can decrease over time without encouragement. Teachers play a vital role in helping students stay motivated and complete the course.

Teachers are encouraged to:

• Provide or assign class time for students to work on the course
• Check in regularly on student progress
• Encourage students and reinforce the value of completion
• Help remove barriers such as time constraints, access challenges, or questions about the content

Teacher involvement greatly increases the likelihood that students will complete the course and gain full benefit from the training.

Students who complete the Workplace Essentials course gain:

• A recognized certificate of completion
• Practical, job‑ready skills employers’ value
• A credential they can add to resumes and job applications
