Everyone working at an event has a role to play in shaping first impressions. Event staff and volunteers are the face not only of their communities but also of Saskatchewan. They represent an integral part of people’s visitor experiences. They are working in a fast-paced environment that requires them to be adaptable to a wide range of requests, situations, potential complaints and emergencies.

The Saskatchewan Ambassador course empowers event workers and volunteers to make a lasting impact on visitors while representing the province and community with pride. Course participants receive valuable training to become skilled and confident tourism ambassadors, able to enhance visitor experiences, promote community pride, and contribute meaningfully to their local tourism industry.

What you will learn

Saskatchewan Ambassador training is delivered online in two modules.

  • Module 1: Understanding Saskatchewan and becoming an effective Tourism Ambassador.
    • What makes Saskatchewan special
    • What is a tourism ambassador
    • Understand the qualities and skills of a good tourism ambassador
  • Module 2: Obtaining the information you need to be a Saskatchewan Ambassador.
    • Get familiar with community and event information like websites, volunteer handbooks, and policies
    • Learn about the local community and nearby services and attractions for tourists

Important information

This course is suitable for existing volunteers, hospitality professionals, and anyone interested in promoting positive visitor experiences.

Upon completion of this course, you will emerge as a skilled and confident tourism ambassador, ready to enhance visitor experiences, promote community pride, and contribute meaningfully to the local tourism industry.

This course takes about one hour to complete online. There is a short knowledge check (quiz) requiring an 80% mark to pass.

Upon successful completion of the course and quiz, you will receive a Certificate of Completion and an Open Badge that you can share on social media.
